Upon coming together in 1969, Crosby, Stills, Nash, &amp; Young (CSNY) created a once-in-a-generation creative union among four of rock ‘n’ roll’s most distinct personalities—David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Neil Young. On March 11, 1970, they released their full-length debut album, Déjà Vu. The ten-track opus included staples like Joni Mitchell&#39;s “Woodstock,” “Teach Your Children,” “Our House,” and “Carry On.” Peaking at #1 on the Billboard 200, it eventually achieved a 7x-Platinum RIAA certification. Its seismic impact led to preservation in the National Recording Registry and induction into the GRAMMY® Hall of Fame, while Rolling Stone hailed it among the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.” The group&#39;s catalog expanded with the platinum-certified American Dream (1988) and Looking Forward (1999) and included a series of sold-out tours.
In their early days, they played four shows at The Fillmore East on September 19-20, 1969. Now, 55 years later, CSNY will share the final gig from this run with the 2LP/2CD set Live At The Fillmore East, 1969 (2024). A newly unearthed multi-track recording of the late show on September 20 brings this night back to life, capturing a band enjoying its new footing and hinting at their future. With 20 million records sold and billions of streams, CSNY&#39;s music remains woven into the fabric of the American Songbook.

Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN) was a folk-rock supergroup comprising American singer-songwriters David Crosby and Stephen Stills and English singer-songwriter Graham Nash. When joined by Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young, they were known as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY). They are noted for their intricate vocal harmonies and lasting influence on American music and culture, their political activism and their tumultuous relationships. 
CSN formed in 1968 shortly after Crosby, Stills and Nash performed together informally, discovering they harmonized well. Crosby had been asked to leave the Byrds in late 1967, Stills' band Buffalo Springfield had broken up in early 1968, and Nash left his band the Hollies in December. They signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records in early 1969. Their first album, Crosby, Stills & Nash (1969) produced the Top 40 hits "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" and "Marrakesh Express". In preparation for touring, the trio added Young, Stills' former Buffalo Springfield bandmate, as a full member, along with the touring members Dallas Taylor (drums) and Greg Reeves (bass). As Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, they played the Woodstock festival that August. 
The band's first album with Young, Déjà Vu, reached number one on several international charts in 1970. It remains their best-selling album, selling more than eight million copies and producing the hit singles "Woodstock", "Teach Your Children", and "Our House". The group's second tour, which produced the live double album 4 Way Street (1971), was fraught with arguments between Young and Taylor, which resulted in Taylor being replaced by John Barbata, and tensions with Stills. At the end of the tour they disbanded. The group reunited several times, sometimes with Young, and released eight studio and four live albums.
Crosby, Stills & Nash were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and all three members were also inducted for their work in other groups: Crosby for the Byrds, Stills for Buffalo Springfield and Nash for the Hollies. Young was also inducted as a solo artist and as a member of Buffalo Springfield but not as a member of CSN. CSN's final studio album was 1999's Looking Forward, and they remained a performing act until 2015. Crosby died in 2023.
